Dr. Oei Hong Djien's collection comprises more than 2500 modern and contemporary Indonesian artworks including paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and video art. He is the founder and curator of OHD Museum in Magelang, Central-Java, Indonesia. A compilation of his essays and selected lectures on Indonesian art was published in 2012.
Having previously held directorships at both the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery, Saumarez Smith took up his appointment as Chief Executive of the Royal Academy of Arts in September 2007. Charles Saumarez Smith is a Governor of the University of Arts, London, an Honorary Fellow of Christ’s College, Cambridge, and has received honorary degrees from the Universities of London, Westminster, Sussex, East Anglia and Essex.
