Art15, sponsored by Citi Private Bank, welcomed leading artists, galleries and collectors from across the globe for the third edition of the fair, which ran in its new early summer dates, from 20-23 May at Olympia, London. Art15 showcased a consolidated presentation of 150 distinctive exhibitors from over 40 countries. Generating strong sales and continuing to build on significant collector presence, Art15 firmly placed itself at the forefront of London’s summer season, confirming its unique status as London’s most global art fair.

Presenting galleries from Amman to Amsterdam, New York to New Delhi, and Sao Paulo to Seoul, the diverse and dynamic exhibitors reflected the fair’s ambition to foster global networks and introduce both new and established collectors to exceptional galleries and artists from every corner of the world. With a visitor attendance at Art15 of over 23,000, high-profile visitors to the fair included collectors from across Asia, Europe and the USA, such as David Roberts (UK), Don and Mera Rubell (USA), Ajay Piramal (UK and India), Usha Mittal (India), Kamir Maleki (UK), Stuart Evans (UK) Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Italy), Harald Falckenberg (Germany), Sylvain and Dominique Levy (France), Shalini Hinduja (UK and India), Edward Lawson Johnston (UK) and Wang Wei (China) and Leyla Aliyeva (Azerbaijan). Also in attendance at the fair were designer Matthew Williamson, singer Florence Welch, designer Mary Katrantzou, comedian Frank Skinner and human rights activist Bianca Jagger.

Art16 returns Thursday 19 – Sunday 22 May 2016 to Olympia, London. The COLLECTOR'S PREVIEW will be on Wednesday 18 May 2016.

Galleries

The Galleries section welcomes established galleries from around the world, showcasing a wide variety of media from the masters of the modern era through to leading international artists from the contemporary scene.

Emerge

Emerge wholly encompasses the curatorial notion of 'emerging' – from markets to galleries to artists. Jonathan Watkins, Director of Ikon Gallery (Birmingham), was the curatorial advisor for Art15's Emerge.

London First

London First commits to providing young galleries making their debut in London with a strong platform. Aaron Cezar, Director of Delfina Foundation (London), was the curatorial advisor for Art15's London First.

Projects

Art15's Projects section showcased artists such as Kwang Young Chun, Janet Laurence, Annie Morris and Hanaa Malallah, who created installations and site-specific projects specially for the fair.

Talks Programme

Art15's talks programme spanned issues of cultural importance including freedom of expression for artists, the rise of private museums, the role of digital art and the importance of women artists in the art marketplace.

 

Freedom Audit Exhibition

As events ranging from ideologically inspired wars to acts of terror come to dominate headlines, debates that pit security against freedom of expression have become all the more common. Responding to this, the Art15 Freedom Audit exhibition, curated by Kathleen Soriano Former Director of Exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts, undertook a curatorial enquiry into concepts of freedom in the art world.
